Functional Responsibilities
Under direction is responsible to collect various facts, and documents, circumstances, video evidence, and other material related to a crime and places them in a logical related framework.
Responsibilities also include to design statistical reports, distribution, and statistical data analysis for various programs associated with crime statistics.
Responsible for maintaining coordinated crime prevention-public safety services between law enforcement field operations and real-time tactical operations center personnel.
Examples of Work
- To research databases on criminal activity from local, state, and federal agencies to ensure accuracy and validity.
- To virtually patrol all public spaces within viewable area for known or suspect elements of ongoing or anticipated criminal activity, other suspicious activity, quality-of-life matters, and other conditions of police interest.
- To communicate situational awareness and virtual patrol observations to field units.
- To monitor tele-communications and field operations to ensure call for service prioritization, tiered emergency response, automated emergency dispatch, and resource utilization is following department protocols.
- To evaluate activity to ensure crime prevention efforts are consistent with crime prevention plans, pre-determined patrol sector/hotspot expectations, and in response to emerging crime conditions.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Information Management Systems, English or closely related field from an accredited college or university; and three years of public safety experience or related fields. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong reading comprehension.
- Knowledge of research techniques and analytical projects involving interrelated subject areas.
- Ability to present research findings in a concise and well-organized manner.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate statistical reports containing findings and conclusions.
- Knowledge of crime prevention techniques and public safety emergency response operations.
- Knowledge of computer systems used to monitor police operations in real-time and analyze data.
- Ability to communicate orally under high stress situations.
- Ability to effectively represent the client when interacting with counterparts throughout the Intelligence and law enforcement communities.
